Cattle are ruminants. Ruminants are designed to live exclusively on a forage diet. Cattle finished on high quality pasture produce a very healthy beef for human consumption.
In a three year study conducted by researchers with Clemson University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the USDA, comparison was made between beef from steers finished on a corn-silage concentrate and beef from steers finished on grass.
